Mary hails from Ballyroan in Co Laois and is one of the ‘women who drives tractors too’! That is the name of a book Mary wrote some time ago and it is a profile of 18 women in agriculture from around Ireland. Mary has taken an interesting path to radio presenting having worked in agriculture and as IFA’s Equality officer. It was in this role she found herself regularly being interviewed in the media and fell in love with radio and has been behind the microphone for a number of years now.
Her Arts show ‘Encore’ aims to make the arts accessible to everyone – be it film, TV, music, drama, art, culture – its all discussed on Encore. The ‘Encore Book Club’ is a key feature of the show – each month a title is chosen and listeners are encouraged to read along. The book is reviewed by a panel of listeners at the end of the month. Mary signs off each Thursday eve with the following ….. “whatever you do this week…do something artistic for yourself!”….. and of course we would love you to get in touch with ‘Encore’ to tell us all about it!
