Will Faulkner spoke to Garda Graham Kavanagh on Midlands today about this cruel crime which occurred in Cloghan County Offaly.

An elderly man was the victim of a particularly evil robbery on Saturday the 3rd of February.

After collecting his old age pension the man was thumbing a lift and a car with three men stopped. They brought him on route to Banagher when they stopped the car. They presented two €50 notes and asked the victim if he had dropped money. The man reached for his wallet instinctively.

They took his wallet and left the man at the side of the road. He was left shaken. The man remembered a partial registration, 07-KK. The car is described as a dark black mpv which was dark and dirty. A similar incident has been carried out throughout the midlands linked to this car.

Gardaí are appealing for more information. Please contact Birr or Tullamore Garda station.
