Warm Weather Predicted For Weekend Ahead – 14th & 15th October

Written 2 weeks ago by Angel Croitor

This weekend is shaping up to be a scorcher especially as Saturday is predicted to reach 20 degrees. Unusually warm weather for October!

Cathal Nolan, from the Midlands Weather Channel, explains that the reason it’s going to be so hot is the location of the jet stream. It is a fast flowing ribbon of air that’s located roughly 10-12km above the surface of the earth.

“The transition itself is going to take place roughly to Friday – it’s really as we look towards Saturday and Sunday that we’re expecting to see the warmest of the temperatures.”

Generally at this time of year we see cooler temperatures because the jet stream is located more towards the south of Ireland. But this weekend the jet stream is located just to the north of Ireland meaning that we will get those southernly jet streams which results in higher temperatures around 18-20 degrees.

As Cathal tells us the sunny south east is the place to be this weekend – so cancel all your northerly plans and head on down to Wexford if you’re planning a trip to the seaside!
