AGSI’s General Secretary Calls Garda Pension Sanctions “Draconian”
Written 3 years ago by Newsroom
The General Secretary of the AGSI has described as “draconian” a recommendation that Gardai who go on strike would face pension sanctions.
Kilcormac native John Jacob has been responding to the publication of the Horgan report on Garda pay and conditions.
It says the AGSI and GRA should become full trade unions, and industrial relations should be ‘normalised’ for Gardai.
It also suggests force members who go on strike or engage in industrial action should be denied pension accrual for five years.
Mr Jacob says it’s a punishment.
