Charity Backs Decriminalising Possession Of Small Amounts Of Drugs
Written 2 months ago by Newsroom
Merchants Quay Ireland says decriminalising the possession of small amounts of drugs will ensure more people come forward and seek help.
The charity operates a number of services in the Midlands including a drop in centre in Athlone and is hoping to establish a similar service in Portlaoise shortly.
New Government proposals could see users caught with small amounts of heroin and cocaine escaping a criminal conviction.
CEO of Merchants Quay Ireland Tony Geoghegan is supporting the move.
