Cowen Fearful Of Delays In Approval Of Housing Applications

Barry Cowen is fearful that An Bord Pleanala may be unable to meet demands of approving large housing developments.

Legislation introduced to tackle the housing crisis will see applications for developments of more than 100 homes made directly to An Bord Pleanala, instead of local councils.

But Offaly Fianna Fail deputy Cowen is questioning whether the planning board has the staff or resources to make such decisions as quickly as possible.

Addressing the Housing Committee, he raised the issue of Edenderry Power Plant.
