Cowen Urging Whelan To Turn Down Court Of Appeals Role

An Offaly Fianna Fail TD is urging Maire Whelan to turn down her appointment as a Court of Appeals judge.

Barry Cowen’s echoing his party’s criticism that the former Attorney General didn’t excuse herself from a Cabinet meeting last week, when the job was being discussed.

The Government insists she’s the right person for the job, and she’s to be officially appointed by the President this morning.

Deputy Cowen has been asked whether Ms Whelan should turn down the job:
