Drugs Worth Almost €100,000 Seized At Portlaoise Mail Centre

Drugs worth almost €100,000 have been seized in Portlaoise Mail Centre.

Revenue officers, assisted by detector dog Sam, discovered approximately 4.7kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €94,000.

It was found in a parcel which had originated from Canada and was declared as ‘clothing’.

In a separate seizure, 6kgs of Khat – a stimulant drug – was also discovered, worth around €3,000.

It was also in a parcel declared as ‘clothing’ and came from Kenya.

Both parcels were destined for addresses in Dublin City.

Investigations are on-going with a view to prosecutions.
