Family Of Rafal Filipowicz To Help Identify Remains

The family of Rafal Filipowicz is arriving into Ireland today to identify remains found in Laois.

Portlaoise Gardaí say all inquiries to date lead to the Polish national, who went missing in March.

Thirty year old Rafal Filipowicz was last seen on the 16th of March leaving Portlaoise Hospital.

Gardaí have made numerous appeals since then, hoping witnesses or anyone with information could come forward.

On Tuesday morning, Coillte workers reported that they had found human remains in a wooded area of Straboe in Laois.

Early on in the investigation, Gardaí suspected it belonged to the Polish national.

They said there was no indication of foul play, and that they had contacted the family of a man in his late 20s or early 30s who had been missing since the beginning of the year.

Mr Filipowicz’ family are now assisting in the process of identifying the body.

DNA samples will be compared, which Gardaí say is a difficult process when dealing with remains.
