Flanagan Chosen As FG Election Candidate For Laois

Written 2 years ago by Newsroom

Charlie Flanagan will run for Fine Gael again in Laois if a general election is called.

The Justice Minister was given the nod at a selection convention in the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel last night ahead of Thomasina Connell.

Ms Connell could still be added to the party’s ticket having run alongside Minister Flanagan in last year’s election.

Laois and Offaly will remain as separate constituencies in the event of a snap election, because legislation restoring them to a single constituency has yet to be implemented.

Fine Gael will hold another selection convention in Longford Westmeath tonight while Fianna Fáil is due to do likewise.
