Flanagan Warns Against Rush In Appointing New Garda Commissioner

The Justice Minister says it would be a mistake to rush through the appointment of a new Garda Commissioner.

Laois deputy Charlie Flanagan has been asked about the process of replacing Noirin O’Sullivan, while a ‘root and branch’ review of the Garda force continues until next September.

Recent controversy surrounding the force has focused on bogus breath test revelations and incorrect court summons for road traffic incidents.

It remains unclear however when Minister Flanagan wishes to see a new Commissioner appointed:
