Former Health Minister Hopes New HSE Structure Will Bring More Accountability

The Health Minister is seeking permission from the Cabinet to restructure the Health Service Executive.

It will involve a partial return to the old health board system that existed before the HSE was established 15 years ago – with the creation of six new regional bodies.

Former Fianna Fail Longford-Westmeath TD and Health Minister Mary O Rourke believes the health boards in the past represented their areas fairly.
