Gardaí investigating a number of alleged rapes have arrested a man in Dublin.

The Irish Independent says he was detained after three women alleged they were violently attacked in Portlaoise, Galway and Dublin.

The paper reports that all of the known victims are sex workers and foreign nationals.

A Garda spokesperson has confirmed that man in his mid 40s arrested yesterday afternoon is being questioned at Lucan Garda Station.
