Written 4 days ago by Newsroom

Further power outages and fallen trees are possible on Saturday as Storm Brian sweeps across the region.

A status yellow wind warning will be in effect in the Midlands from 10pm tonight until 10pm tomorrow with gusts of up to 110 kilometres per hour predicted by Met Éireann.

Coastal counties in the west and south east, where a status orange warning will take effect, may experience winds of up to 130 kilometres per hour.

Power outages have been resolved in the Midlands but 50,000 properties elsewhere still have no electricity after Storm Ophelia.

Cathal Nolan, who runs the Midland Weather Channel on Facebook, doesn’t believe Storm Brian will be as bad.
