House Prices Up 15% In Midlands

House prices are continuing to rise steeply in the Midlands.

According to the CSO’s residential property price index, averages rose by almost 15 per cent in the year to August across Laois, Offaly, Westmeath and Longford.

Only the West of Ireland experienced a larger increase while the national average rose by 12 per cent.

The median price paid for a house was €145,000 in Laois, €140,000 in Westmeath, €130,000 in Offaly and just €79,000 in Longford.
