Written 9 months ago by Zoe Ryan
Over 750 new cars have been sold in Laois, Offaly and Westmeath since the 18-2 plate was introduced on July 1st.
This compares with almost 400 second hand cars registered for the first time, signalling a strong influx of UK motors.
Imports of many premium brands outnumbered new sales, with no new BMWs registered in Laois compared to nine used models.
A similar picture emerged for Audis in Westmeath and for Mercedes in Offaly.
The CSO figures relate to the month of July.
