IDA “Swimming Against Tide” In Attracting Rural Jobs

Written 11 months ago by Newsroom

The IDA’s chief executive says they’re swimming against the tide in attracting investment to rural Ireland.

Martin Shanahan has told an Oireachtas Committee that while he can’t “wave a magic wand” to bring jobs to the Midlands, people shouldn’t doubt their commitment to boost employment.

He says the infrastructure in region is quite strong and Athlone IT is a “great plus”.

Mr Shanahan admits that some companies have no interest in regional areas.
