A group representing auctioneers believe offering ‘placement fees’ to take in homeless families creates a conflict of interest.

The money will be offered to letting agents from local authorities to incentivise taking an occupant in receipt of Housing Assistance Payments.

However, housing charities including Focus Ireland have praised the idea.
