Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a spree of burglaries in Laois and Offaly.

Houses were broken into in the Summerhill and Chantiere Gate areas of Portlaoise and Newtown in Stradbally on Friday night.

Elsewhere, houses in St Teresa’s Terrace and St Francis Street in Edenderry and at Roselawn, Portlaoise were burgled on Saturday night.

Jewellery was stolen in a number of the incidents and anyone with information is asked to contact their local Garda station.
