Laois Councillors Battle Against Unstaffed Library Hours
Written 3 years ago by Newsroom
Councillors in Laois have passed a motion seeking to stop the introduction of unstaffed hours at the county’s libraries.
Independent representative James Kelly says the issue is not about the possibility of job losses, but claims library visitor numbers are likely to drop if there are no staff in place.
Many councillors said during today’s meeting that money spent on machines for staffless libraries, would be better spent on employing two further staff.
Councillor Kelly says Laois County Council has committed to maintaining current staff hours.
