Laois-Offaly Garda Warning For Bank Users

Written 2 months ago by Newsroom

Gardai in Laois and Offaly are investigating several thefts, often referred to as ‘bank jugging’.

Criminals monitor people making withdrawals from financial institutions and steal the cash.

They watch and listen while business is transacted and when they feel someone has a sufficiently large sum of money, they follow the person to wherever they are going.

They usually target a parked vehicle and pounce once it is left unoccupied.

Both Gardai and banks advise using electronic fund transfers or bank drafts, rather than carrying a lot of cash.
