Crackdown Catches 172 Speeding Drivers

Motorists driving across the Midlands have been behaving themselves for the most part on National Slow Down Day.

Among the local speeding cases today include incidents at Rathowen in Westmeath, Durrow in Offaly and Portarlington.

Gardai say just over 110,000 vehicles have been tested since 7am, with 172 vehicles found to be speeding.

Full compliance has been noted at a range of sites, including eight checkpoints in Laois, Offaly and Westmeath.
