A man in his 40s arrested in Athlone following a stabbing in Roscommon Town is due to be charged or released today.

He was detained on Wednesday morning as part of an investigation into an attack on a young man in a car park on Castle Street on August 30th.

The victim suffered serious stab wounds and is still recovering from his injuries.

A second man arrested in Ballinasloe on Tuesday was released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
