Gardaí say a man is in a stable condition after a car crash in Laois.

The incident happened at around half nine last night in the Bay Road Business Park in Mountmellick.

He was taken to Tullamore Hospital with minor injuries.

ESB Networks responded to the incident following reports that it appeared to involve overhead lines by remotely disconnecting power to the whole Mountmellick area.

Staff who attended the scene established that it was not related to the electricity network or poles.
