A Sinn Féin TD has hit out at the Government for failing to designate the Midlands as a Rent Pressure Zone.
The party tabled a motion seeking a referendum to put the right to housing into the constitution, but it’s not expected to receive support from Fianna Fáil due to the cost of holding the vote.
It comes as new CSO figures show property prices in the region are rising more than twice the national average.
