Minister Coveney Accepts Limits To Wind Energy Near Hill Of Uisneach

The Planning Minister’s accepting efforts to limit potential wind energy development near the Hill of Uisneach.
Westmeath county councillors have sought to make a variation to the County Development Plan which would declare the region between Ballymore and Athlone an area of ‘low capacity’.
Simon Coveney has agreed to the change after initial opposition, however, Longford-Westmeath TD Peter Burke says calls for a 30 decibel night-time noise limit on turbines will have to be dealt with in national guidelines.
Fine Gael deputy Burke insists the news is a big boost.
