Minister McGrath Wants Voices Of GPs Heard In Portlaoise Hospital Debate

Written 3 years ago by Newsroom

Junior Health Minister Finian McGrath says the voices of local GPs must be heard in the debate about future services at Portlaoise Hospital.

He’s been responding to questioning in the Dail by Laois TDs Brian Stanley and Sean Fleming, following a HIQA review of services at the hospital which was released last week.

It found that ‘significant risks’ remain, and cited particular problems with recruitment of staff.

Minister McGrath did not outline when any plan on the future of the hospital would be published, but said that GPs who’ve raised concerns should be listened to.
