Ministers With Sharpest Elbows “Undermining” NPF

The Labour leader claims that the National Planning Framework is being undermined by ministers with the “sharpest elbows”.

Brendan Howlin has been speaking in the Dáil after Longford Westmeath Independent Alliance TD and Minister of State Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran said this week he was adamant that Athlone be designated as the capital of the Midlands.

The launch of the plan, which aims to balance development across the country up to 2040, takes place on Friday.

Deputy Howlin is questioning how the framework has been influenced.

Meanwhile, the Government has been accused of skulduggery by trying to get the plan through without a Dáil vote.

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says there’s no need for TDs to vote.
