Minister Denis Naughten says enforcement of litter laws needs to be improved.

The Communications and Climate Change Minister has been responding to the 2015 National Litter Pollution Monitoring System Report, which shows that cigarette litter and chewing gum are the most common problems.

The report reveals that almost 60 percent of litter found in Ireland is from cigarettes, while 40 percent of it is caused by passing pedestrians.

Minister Naughten says people’s attitudes need to improve.
