Offaly Councillors To Decide On Property Tax Rate

Written 3 years ago by Newsroom

Councillors in Offaly are due to make a final decision today on the local property tax rate for next year.

Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael want a five percent increase to establish a community development fund while Sinn Féin are seeking a two percent decrease.

A decision was expected to be made at last week’s meeting.

Local authorities have the power to vary the rate by up to 15 per cent.

The county councils in Laois and Westmeath left their rates unchanged for next year.
