The community of Rhode is preparing for the funeral of Friday’s tragic crash victim.

Tony Leavy died after he was hit by a car at Clonmeen Cross, while another man was taken to hospital for injuries.

Rhode GAA is expressing its sympathy to his wife Bernie and family, adding that he donned the green and gold many times in his younger years, was a tremendous athlete and that his two sons continue to be pivotal for the club.

His funeral Mass begins at 11.30 this morning in St Peter’s Church, Rhode, with burial in the nearby cemetery.
