Patient Safety Group Needed Within Health Service
Written 1 week ago by Newsroom
A medical negligence solicitor is calling for a patient safety group to be set up to change the culture within the HSE.
It follows a High Court settlement for mother Sandra Cullivan following the death of her new-born son at Mullingar Hospital.
The inquest into the death of Baby Stevie Cullivan found a verdict of medical misadventure due to a lack of oxygen to the brain shortly before birth.
The High Court heard that Ms Cullivan named her son after her husband who died from a heart attack months before his delivery.
Sandra Cullivan says it was a very traumatic time for her, that she hoped a part of her husband would live on through her son.
Her solicitor, Roger Murray of Callen Tansey Solicitors in Sligo says things need to change.
