“Patients Left On Hospitals Waiting Lists Too Long Could Die”

It’s feared patients left on hospital waiting lists for too long could die before they’re seen by a doctor.
New figures from the National Treatment Purchase Fund show over 700 thousand people were waiting to be seen in August, 4 and a half thousand of those are outpatients in the Midlands.
The Taoiseach says there’s a lot of “double counting” in the figures.
But Mervin Taylor, executive director of patient advocacy group Sage, disagrees – and explains some of the challenges facing older patients in getting to their appointment:
