Irish Rail Workers Reveal Dates For Strike Action
Written 4 days ago by Newsroom
Train strikes are going ahead after unions and management at Irish Rail failed to reach a deal on pay.
Members of SIPTU and the NBRU have voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action, and 24-hour stoppages will take place on November 1, 7, 14 and 23rd, as well as December 8th.
That means that supporters travelling to the World Cup play-off second leg clash between the Republic of Ireland and Denmark look likely to be affected on November 14th.
December 8th is also seen as a popular shopping day ahead of Christmas.
Barry Kenny from Irish Rail says the company is in a difficult position.
Fianna Fáil’s Transport Spokesperson, Longford Westmeath TD Robert Troy, is questioning why the dispute has been allowed to get this point.
