Tricolour To Be Used In Highlight Homelessness

The tricolour will be used today to draw attention to the number of homeless veterans of the Defence Forces.

A campaign ‘Sleeping flags’ will see three veterans sleep out in Dublin to highlight the issue.

It’s part of an initiative by an organisation that helps veterans called ONE, which has a centre in Athlone.

According to Department of Housing figures for December there had been 206 people without a home across Laois, Offaly, Westmeath and Longford.

Richard Dillon works at the Dublin facility and says veterans end up homeless for a variety of reasons:
