The Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore has the second highest number of patients without a bed today across the country.
According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, thirty people are awaiting admission at the facility, the highest outside of Dublin along with University Hospital Galway.
The HSE’s escalation policy remains in place at the unit and the public is advised to visit their midoc or GP services where possible.
Elsewhere in the region, twenty-four patients are without a bed at Portlaoise Hospital, just ahead of Mullingar Hospital on twenty-two- bringing the total number of those affected in the region today to seventy-six.
