Gardaí have arrested two men following a stabbing in Mullingar.

A man in his 30s suffered arm injuries after being assaulted by two people in Mullingar Town Park at 3:45am on Sunday.

His wallet and phone were also stolen in the incident.

Two young men were arrested at Auburn Avenue a short time later and brought to Mullingar Garda Station for questioning.

A youth was released from custody while a 20 year old man appeared in court yesterday and was remanded to appear in court again later this week.
