Westmeath Gardai “Disappointed and Worried” About Recruitment

The Garda Representative Association is disappointed and worried that none of the 201 new garda graduates will be assigned to the midlands.
Conor Staunton, from the Westmeath division of the GRA, feels the region is being overlooked.
Westmeath received just 36 new gardaí since the recruitment ban was lifted in 2017 – 12 to Athlone and 24 in Mullingar.
