In a statement, they say Lyra would’ve wanted hate and intolerance to be overcome with “love, understanding and kindness”.

The journalist’s funeral takes place in Belfast today, after she was shot dead in Derry last week.

Hundreds of mourners will line the streets outside St. Anne’s Cathedral, where a service of thanksgiving will be held for the life of the 29 year old.

Senior Journalist with BBC Radio Foyle Elaine McGee says Lyra’s personality and vibrancy will be remembered at her funeral;
