Westmeath TD Demands Changes To Carer’s Allowance

A Longford Westmeath TD wants the means-test for Carer’s Allowance abolished.
It’s one of the proposals the Labour Party makes in a motion to be discussed in the Dáil tomorrow.
It’s also calling for more carers to get the GP visit card, and for an increase in the number of hours they’re allowed to work or study.
Deputy Willie Penrose says 35-thousand carers don’t qualify for Carer’s Allowance because of the means-test:
