Without Vote Of Conscience TD Runs Risk Of Losing Party Whip

A Meath West Sinn Féin TD says he runs the risk of losing his party whip if a free vote is not given on upcoming abortion legislation.
At the moment the party supports terminations in certain circumstances including rape, incest and when the mother’s life or mental health is at risk.
However, 24 cumanns have called for a vote of conscience on the issue ahead of its Ard Fheis in Belfast this weekend.
Offaly TD Carol Nolan was suspended from the party in March after voting against the holding of last month’s referendum.
