Gardai will be increasing their numbers on patrol and on checkpoints today, ahead of the bank holiday weekend.
Gardai will roll out 'Operation Lockdown' this evening in an effort to stop people drinking and driving after work.
'Operation Surround' will come into force tomorrow and will focus on satellite towns like Tallaght and Swords in Dublin.
