In Play with Jim Smyth

1700 - 2100

Presented by: Jim Smyth

Jim will keep you up to speed with live updates and reaction from Saturday’s action in a wide variety of sports around the Midlands, on a National and International level, involving commentaries, reports, interviews and interesting stories. There’ll also be in- depth previews and interviews ahead of all the games coming up Sunday’s Inside Line.

Tipsters, Vinny Grennan and Donal McKenna are in studio each week to help put punters in the right direction ahead of the weekend’s racing.

This laid-back show offers people from the Midlands the opportunity to come into studio and chat about their passions, clubs and associations. Musical artists from Laois, Offaly and Westmeath join Jim in the ‘In Play’ studio to give their thoughts on their music and perform on the show. Studio guests also get the chance to take part in “The Keep-uppy Challenge” in The Corridor of Fame/Shame (which is filmed and posted on our Facebook Page – Midlands Sport!).

“On ‘In Play’, it’s really important that we see what’s going on in our local area – be it U-14 Camogie, Badminton, Bluegrass Bands, The Walsh Cup, Bowls, Women’s CCFL, Basketball, Cycling, Rugby, Musicals or Schools Football – the list is endless. This is about The Midlands Community.”

On a musical note, ‘In Play’ offers an eclectic blend of music transcending many generations that range from Talking Heads to The Jam, Primal Scream, Rolling Stones, U2, Fat Boy Slim, The Clash, Paddy Casey, Gwen Stefani, Run DMC, Black Eyed Peas, The 4 of Us, Cee Lo Green, John Newman…and that’s only for starters!
