Westmeath’s David Oliver Joyce is now one win away from a place at the Rio Olympics.

The three-time EU lightweight champion has come back from losing the opening-round with two of the judges to defeat Vazgen Sufaryants of Belarus in Turkey.

If Joyce reaches the final this weekend, he’ll be assured of an Olympic qualification place but has the added chance of winning a third-place box-off.

Olympic champion Katie Taylor got the decision from all the judges in her quarter-final against Denmark’s Yvonne Rasmusse.

Victory in the semi-finals will book Taylor’s place at Rio.

Ceire Smith and Christina Desmond were edged out in their quarters, Darren O’Neill and Brendan Irvine are both in action later.
