Blackmore Lands the Feature Race at Kilbeggan

There was action at Kilbeggan yesterday where the feature race was the Galway Races Galway Plate Trial Handicap Chase.

Rachael Blackmore returned from injury at Downpatrick on Saturday and she wasted little time in getting back among the winners to land the trial aboard the Henry De Bromhead trained Conrad Hastings.

Sent off at odds of 7-1, the Fleminsfirth gelding was always prominent under Blackmore and stayed on strongly to beat Hash Brown by four and a half lengths. Blackmore was pleased with his first run back.

Elsewhere on the card Johnathan Moore continued his hotstreak by taking the Midlands National Ladies Day July 19th Handicap Hurdle aboard Ming Dynasty for his new boss Gavan Cromwell.

The 20-1 shot swooped late under a perfectly-judged ride from Moore to beat the front-running Avenir D’Une Vie by a length and a half.

The Wexford jockey believes it was his mount’s flat form that got him over the line in front.
