Christy Ring Cup Final Replay Re-Fixed For Croke Park

The controversial Christy Ring Cup Final replay between Antrim and Meath has been re-fixed for Croke Park on June 25th following an application from Meath GAA.
They had objected to playing the game at Newry this coming Saturday ‘in the interests of player welfare’, seven days after they were presented with the cup on the stands of the Hogan Stand.
It later transpired that the officials had made an error on the final scoreline and Antrim successfully appealed the result and were awarded a replay.
Yesterday the Royals’ management committee, the players and coaches agreed to take part in a replay – but only if it was not held this weekend.
Antrim had objected to playing on the weekend after due to their involvement in the Ulster Senior Hurling Championship and the CCCC have this lunchtime found a compromise date.
The GAA have issued a statement on their website.
“The Central Competitions Control Committee met this morning to consider a formal request from the Meath County Committee for a postponement of the Christy Ring Cup Final Replay between Meath and Antrim scheduled for this Saturday evening, June 11th.
Given the unique circumstances involved, the C.C.C.C. agreed to postpone the game. It will now take place on Saturday, June 25th in Croke Park at 5pm.”
