New Masters champion Danny Willett has entered the top 10 of the world golf rankings for the first time in his career.

He’s the first Englishman since Nick Faldo in 1996 to win the famous green jacket, a final round 67 saw the Yorkshire man finish up on five-under – three shots clear of the field.

Jordan Spieth dropped six shots on three holes to see his defense collapse, the world number-two ended up sharing second place with Lee Westwood.

Rory McIlroy – who was the best Irish finisher at Augusta National in 10th – remains third in the world, behind Spieth and leader Jason Day.

Clara’s Shane Lowry improved his Olympic qualification chances with his top 40 finish which sees him move up to 31st in the world – with his nearest challenger for the team, Graham McDowell, down to 66th.

Lowry’s next tournament will be Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hallow on May 5th.
