Moate’s three-time European boxing champion Joe Ward’s received a bye into the last-16 of the light-heavyweight division at the World Boxing Championships in Germany.

The new world number-three will be through the ropes to face either Georgia’s Iago Kizira or Sean Lazzerini of Scotland on Monday afternoon.

Two Irish boxers are in the ring today in Hamburg with Kurt Walker and Sean McComb both having their last-32 bouts.
