Home Favourite Gael Monfils Out Of French Open
Written 1 year ago by Will O'Callaghan
Gael Monfils is the latest big name tennis player to pull out of the French Open – which starts on Sunday.
The world number 14, who’s one of the home favourites at Roland Garros, has a virus.
The French tennis federation said Monfils was advised by his doctors to skip the Roland Garros.
Monfils’ best result at the French Open was a run to the semifinals in 2008. Last year, he lost in the fourth round to Roger Federer, who is also missing from the French Open this year.

Roger Federer announced yesterday he won’t play either – as he hasn’t recovered fully from a back injury.
Caroline Wozniacki’s among the other withdrawals.
The draw for the opening-round at Roland Garros will take place later this morning (10.15am Irish time).
