Man City Reach Champions League Semi-Finals For First Time

Manchester City are into the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in their history.

A brilliantly-taken goal from Kevin de Bruyne was enough for City to overcome Paris St Germain at the Etihad.

The Belgian’s superb first-touch and curling finish helped City to a 1-0 win on the night and a 3-2 aggregate success against the French champions.

PSG were surprisingly lacklustre for most of the game and City should have won by more after Sergio Aguero missed a first-half spot-kick.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes City are good enough to become European champions if they perform as they did against PSG.

Real Madrid also claimed a 3-2 aggregate win in their quarter-final – but in a very different manner.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick – including two goals in the space of 60 seconds in the opening 17 minutes – helped Real to over-turn their shock first-leg defeat to Wolfsburg.

There’s a meeting of the top two in La Liga as Atletico Madrid play host to Barcelona in the second-leg of their quarter-final tonight, with Barca holding a 2-1 first-leg advantage.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich travel to Portugal to face Benfica after Bayern registered a 1-0 win at the Allianz Arena last week.

Both games kick-off at 7.45.
